Career Journeys: Meet our Audit professionals

Our people and our culture make Deloitte a place where leaders thrive. Get an inside look at the rich diversity of background, education, and experiences of our Audit professionals.

Audit

Deloitte audit professionals provide independent financial statement and internal control audits, in accordance with the latest professional standards and with a focus on quality. Audits and reviews are planned to assess and identify possible risk—whether the risk of a material misstatement or a risk in internal controls. Our professionals work closely with our clients to encourage two-way communication and to minimize surprises.

Meet some of our audit professionals below.

Aaron Brown, audit senior

"I'd take two lessons from Deloitte … making sure that your people come first. Happy people make for a successful company. And then … not everybody should have the same mentality. You should definitely have diversity on your team, different people with different skill sets."

Meet Aaron

Devon Konikow, manager

“Always say yes to new learnings and challenges. You're going to have a lot of different opportunities thrown your way … working with different teams, working with different people, and working in different industries. Always keep an open mind.”

Meet Devon

Dale Livezey, specialist master

“Once at Deloitte, you need to build your network ... You’ll find connections to projects you never imagined, which may lead to broader opportunities on down the road as your experience, industry knowledge, and skillset improve.”

Jenna Blasdel, manager

“It was challenging. I heard about other internships where you only made copies and you weren’t really learning or involved in actual day-to-day audit work. Deloitte wasn’t like that. The people I worked with—the way they talked about their work, the way they were constantly learning, and always doing something different—it was interesting to me. One of the best parts was that the teams we worked with were really great. It was clear that several people on the teams were really good friends, and I thought this was an environment I would want to work in.”

Jon Gonzalez, partner

“I am really big into trying to connect my personal life with Deloitte. My boys are classic kids, loving sports and everything, but they also have a variety of hobbies. They love to draw, color, paint, do arts and crafts. My oldest son is a knitter. During the busy season, he actually came into the office on a Saturday and taught my teams how to finger knit blue, green, and white bracelets. One of the seniors on my team went to the Super Bowl and she wore her bracelet.”

Laura Ivory, senior manager

“As long as you are happy and passionate, you will do well. If you have that drive, you are going to be successful.”

Brian Kunisch, partner

“At the end of my rotation—I did two years in the London office—we said we are going to take a few weeks off and go travel, and everyone in the London office was like, ‘You are crazy. Why are you only taking three weeks? That is not a real vacation. Why don’t you take a leave of absence and do some travelling?’ The more I thought about it, the more appealing it became, so we got an around-the-world ticket from British Airways and took off for five months.”

T'Shaka Lee, partner

“As a child I lived an impoverished life, but I didn't realize I was poor until I was almost an adult and came to the US, which is quite an accomplishment as a child of a single mother. The most influential person in my life was my grandmother. I spent a lot of time with her and I think that if I reflect on who I am as a person, my grandmother motivated me. She never had any formal education, but was perhaps the wisest person I’ve known. She was very clear that you need to live a life of gratitude and do whatever you can to be a rainbow in the lives of other people.”

Paige Hall, senior assistant

“To be completely honest, in the beginning of my junior year I had no idea, I just knew I wanted an accounting internship. I went to a workshop at my career center at Adelphi and they started talking about the big four firms and I said, ‘You know what, I want to work for one of the big firms.’ It just sounded appealing to me. I interviewed with a few of the firms and then I got a random phone call from my career counselor asking me if she could forward my resume to Deloitte & Touche LLP. I said, ‘Sure, of course.’ And I got an interview for the mentorship program, which is where Deloitte takes college students to three events over the summer to provide an opportunity to interact with professionals. Ultimately that’s how I got my internship in 2011.”

Tony Griglione, audit senior

"When I was offered a full-time position at Deloitte, I’ll be honest, I didn’t look anywhere else."

Chad Postema, audit senior

“Deloitte looked at the things I had done in the past with my military background and how that would be a good fit. And honestly, with doing the CORE program, I just felt like Deloitte was more involved and helping veterans.”
