As Deloitte's Chief Purpose & DEI Officer, Kwasi Mitchell leads the strategy behind the organization’s firm commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the US. Kwasi also serves as the Deloitte Global Chief Sustainability Officer.
Kwasi built and continues to oversee Deloitte’s first dedicated Purpose and DEI Office in the US, where the company devotes substantial resources to addressing some of the world’s most complex societal issues, including those related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, sustainability and climate change, education and workforce development, and technology trust ethics.
Kwasi also supports Deloitte’s clients in becoming purpose-driven organizations, fostering collaborations that address systemic societal issues and drive more equitable outcomes.
Internally, Kwasi engages our professionals to live their purpose daily, orchestrating strategy and process changes that contribute to achieving our purpose aspirations. His leadership focuses on the collective impact and lasting change we can have on society when we put purpose and inclusion efforts into action.
As the Deloitte Global Chief Sustainability Officer, Kwasi also collaborates with Deloitte Global and Member Firm leaders, as well as an ecosystem of stakeholders externally, to further Deloitte Global’s sustainability commitments.
Before his current role, Kwasi was the DE&I leader and pro bono social impact lead for Deloitte Consulting LLP in the US. He has a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Northwestern and an MBA from Drexel University. Today, he sits on several national and global nonprofit boards working to build a more equitable society. Kwasi lives in Washington, D.C., with his lovely wife, Kathleen.
