The Vietnam awards are derived from Deloitte’s global Best Managed Companies awards programs - a well-regarded international awards program that applies a proven evaluation process to assess the businesses’ quality of management in areas including strategy, capabilities and innovation, culture and commitment, as well as governance and financials. The evaluation of the Vietnam awards is based on more than 25 years of observed practice from the global awards program that has been rolled out to 37 countries worldwide.
Mrs. Ha Thu Thanh, Chairperson, Deloitte Vietnam, said: “Vietnamese businesses faced an unprecedented year of challenges and their business strategies were put to the test. Tenacity and agility are central to the Best Managed Companies ethos and our winners have excelled in these areas. We are proud to be associated with the inaugural winners of the awards here in Vietnam. Congratulations to these outstanding companies.”
Companies who are eligible for this awards program are shortlisted and undergo a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices. This includes having their business strategy and operations analysed and benchmarked against an evaluation framework that is applied to the 1000-strong community of best managed private companies across the world. Business leaders then use the process to sharpen strategies and derive valuable insights to help them set projections to optimise business growth.
Mr. Bui Tuan Minh, Best Managed Companies Vietnam Leader, said: “We were impressed with the level of engagement the applicants displayed throughout the awards process. Applicants were assessed on their strategy development, commitment to corporate culture and operational processes but there were a few clear themes that emerged among our winners: they were united in their purpose, adapted to new ways to reach consumers, and advanced their technologies to achieve greater efficiency for themselves and ease for their customers.”
The global and local market challenges pushed winners to pursue new and innovative ways of reaching their customers. The winners attribute their success to having a clear focus on employees and product delivery models, with these being key in enabling their companies to remain competitive and prosper.
Ms. Vu Dieu Trang, CEO of Apollo Education and Training Organization said: “It’s such a great honor for Apollo Vietnam to be recognized by a very prestigious firm like Deloitte, who have been operating globally for over 175 years. What we have learned from the journey is the opportunity to engage in collaborative learning. Apollo was the first English center in Vietnam, operating here for over 25 years, which has provided us with a deep understanding of the education industry, especially teaching English for young learners. Through our observations, Deloitte has offered us a different perspective on how we strategize, plan, communicate and implement, which has helped us to position ourselves for greater sustainability. We are delighted to receive this award. Thank you to the organization team for coordinating such a great opportunity for businesses in Vietnam on the way to self-improvement.”
Ms. Nguyen Tra My, CEO of The PAN Group said: “Earning the award after 3-round evaluation of independent judging panel is a meaningful recognition for The PAN Group. This is a compliment for our effort when implementing our strategy, vision and governance model: having its own identity but in line with international practices. The participation of corporations like PAN in the network of Best Managed Companies demonstrates the qualification and ranking of Vietnamese enterprises that have been risen today. We also have more opportunities to learn and look for business cooperation opportunities with partners in this network.”
Mr. Leitzinger Christian Walter, CEO of Pham Nguyen Confectionery said: “I am incredibly proud of our Company’s achievement of the inaugural Deloitte Vietnam’s Best Managed Companies award in 2021. This award recognizes the staff at Pham Nguyen, who have developed a strong organizational culture which drives long term growth, upholds high governance standards and seeks transformative innovation. This award is also a testament to the commitment of our distribution partners and millions of loyal customers who have passion for our products and bring them into their homes to share with their families. A sincere thank you to all who have played a vital part in helping us achieve our vision to transform the Vietnam baking industry and expand our leadership to serve more customers.”
An independent judging panel comprising business and academia representatives determined the winners based on the leading practices of Best Managed Companies. This year’s jury members are Madame Pham Chi Lan, Vietnamese Economic Expert; Master Phan Duc Hieu, Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM); Dr. Nguyen Thu Hien, Program Director, Maastricht MBA Vietnam, School of Industrial Management, University of Technology, VNU-HCM.
