The  27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) is an annual global event that brings together leaders from the public and private sectors, as well as civil society. The summit seeks to accelerate global climate action through emissions reduction, scaled up adaptation efforts, and enhanced flows of appropriate finance, while underscoring the importance of a just transition.

Egypt is assuming the Presidency of COP27 and hosting the summit in Sharm El-Sheikh on 6-18 November 2022, with a clear vision for building on previous successes and paving the way for future ambition, and with key goals focused around mitigation, adaptation, finance and collaboration.

What can we expect of COP27 this year and how do we anticipate Egypt to continue to develop frameworks and further position the critical roles that the public and private sectors play? How might COP27 and COP28 which is set to take place next year in the UAE make demands of the global community towards updating and making more ambitious near-term climate commitments?
