What is the Deloitte Accelerator for Social Innovation (DASI)?

DASI is a 12-month accelerator program for social enterprises comprised of a competition and a support pack of equity-free advisory services, networking opportunities, mentorship and skills-development.

What do you mean by “innovation”?

We are interested in what your organization is doing in a new, unique and different way.

What do you mean by “social enterprise”?

We define social enterprises or a social businesses (we are not distinguishing between both) as organisations that are operating with a social or environmental purpose. They have a business plan and sustainable revenue streams, which enable them to compete in mainstream markets, often challenging the status quo, and maximise their social or environmental impact. Those who benefit from social enterprises are their employees and direct customers as well as the wider community.

 

Applications / Eligibility

Do I have to be based in the Middle East?

Your organization should be domiciled in one of the following countries: Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Palestinian territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia or United Arab Emirates.

What legal structure should my organization have?

We are open to all types of organizations irrespective of legal structure. An applicant organization could be registered as a for-profit, an NGO, or a social enterprise. What is important is that the organization meets the applicant criteria.

Can I nominate another company?

If you would like to nominate a company, please forward the website and application form to them but they must submit the application form themselves.

Can I apply if I am already on another programme and receiving support?

Yes, however we would like to know what kind of support the organization is currently receiving to ensure there is no duplication of support.

How do I apply?

Interested social enterprises are invited to download the application form, fill it offline and then send it along with a copy of audited financial statements for the last 2 years, and Commercial Certificate (if business) or Certificate of Notification (if NGO/association) by email to dtmecr@deloitte.com.

What criteria are you looking for? How will we be judged?

We are looking for organizations that have a proven social enterprise concept, that have an innovative idea, and that are ready to take it to the next level. These organizations should meet the applicant criteria. Please refer to the judging criteria for more information.

When will I know if my application has been shortlisted and if I will be invited to an interview?

We will notify you if you have been qualified for Round 2 – Interview stage.

Will all applicants undergo an interview?

Only finalists will be notified and invited to live or virtual interviews.

When will the interviews take place?

Interview date and time with finalists will be agreed between both parties.

Is there a fee?

No, there is no fee for applying to the program. Furthermore, there will be no costs charged to winning organizations that successfully pass the competition.

Will Deloitte offer investment or a cash prize?

Deloitte does not offer a cash prize however a key aim of the program is to support social enterprises in being more attractive to financial investment.

What will I receive if I am a winner of the DASI competition?

What will the requirements be on me if I am successful?

We are looking for people who will be active contributors and participators to our program, allowing their organizations to gain the most from the activities and opportunities provided. Applicants are invited to read the Terms and Conditions at the end of the application form for more information.
