Deloitte Zimbabwe shines with a new, female leader

HARARE, 8 June 2022 – Deloitte Africa has today announced Charity Mtwazi as the incoming as the Managing Partner of Deloitte Zimbabwe effective 1 June 2022.

Mtwazi succeeds Brian Mabiza whose term ends on 31 May 2022. “Brian has had a remarkable career with the firm for a combined period of more than 20 years, the last four of which have been as Managing Partner of Zimbabwe. He has an exceptional work ethic and has served his clients with excellence and distinction, resulting in a distinguished reputation as a leader in his field,” CEO of Deloitte Africa, Ruwayda Redfearn said.

Brian was admitted to the Deloitte Zimbabwe Partnership in January 2007 and served a diverse range of clients over his tenure, comprised of large Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed and non-listed corporates and other multi-national entities, including Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited, Delta Corporation Limited, Innscor Africa Limited, CBZ Holdings Limited, ZB Financial Holdings Limited and OK Zimbabwe Limited. Equally, Brian has diligently served in various leadership roles over the years, including Head of Audit & Assurance Zimbabwe, Chief Operating Officer for Deloitte Central Africa (incorporating Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi) as well as the concurrent Managing Partner of Deloitte Zimbabwe and Deloitte Zambia.

Mtwazi is the first female CEO for Deloitte Zimbabwe. The appointment of another female leader of a Big Four professional services firm continues the historic moment for the Deloitte Africa firm since announcing Ruwayda Redfearn and Delia Ndlovu as the CEO and Board Chair in recent months for the continent.
Mtwazi started her career in the firm in 2002, is a qualified Chartered Accountant (Zimbabwe) with over 18 years of experience and has been a Partner since 1 June 2017. She currently serves as the firm’s Head of Audit & Assurance as well as its Learning Partner and is the accredited Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe training officer for the firm.

In accepting the position, Mtwazi says, “taking over the reins from a stalwart such as Brian is an outstanding honour, for myself and the Deloitte family and I’m honoured to be leading part of an exciting untold chapter with Deloitte. My first port-of-duty will be championing the continued integration into the Southern African region and ensuring that a true impact that matters remain top of mind for our people, society and the clients we serve whilst tackling the increasingly complex challenges society faces—including, social inequity, climate change, and economic inequality.”
