Africa Energy & Chemicals Leader

Jenny is the Deloitte Lead Partner for Oil and Gas industry for Africa and a Partner in the Deloitte Audit Division.

Jenny completed her articles in the Port Elizabeth office in 1997. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, she transferred to Deloitte UK as part of their Global Development Programme. She returned to the SA firm in September 1999 as a manager in the Cape Town office.

She takes a keen interest in the oil and gas industry which was first sparked when Deloitte was appointed the external auditors of a large global independent upstream group in 2004. She is involved in servicing both national and international oil and gas entities for the past 15 years across the full spectrum of the industry and seen as an industry expert.

She stays abreast of industry issues, through regular interactions with the Deloitte Oil and Gas team based in London and being part of their global network.

She has been interviewed and published in various media including television, radio, newspaper and internet on current subject matter including the oil price and ramifications for the oil and gas industry.

Jenny has substantial experience in managing assignments of multinational groups with teams located in various locations in both Africa and Europe.

She has previously provided advice on the preparation of the financial statements of an oil and gas entity specifically focusing on oil and gas industry accounting treatments and disclosures. This advice included the conversion from SA GAAP to IFRS for the company. As well as she was involved in the conversion of a large international group from UK GAAP to IFRS.

She has had direct exposure to Production Sharing Agreements in the following African countries: Angola, Congo (Brazzaville),Cote d’ Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritania, Namibia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda. This includes accounting for costs both as an operator and non-operator of relevant Blocks in these countries.

She also has experience in using the Statement of Recommended Practice on Accounting for Oil and Gas Exploration, Development, Production and Decommissioning Activities issued by the Oil Industry Accounting Committee in the United Kingdom which provides detailed guidance on accounting for transactions peculiar to the upstream oil and gas industry.
