Customs and Global Trade – Senior Manager

Role

We are looking for the person who is best able to ful fill the following job requirements:

  • Identifying business opportunities within clients
  • Responsible for generating work from the clients in the portfolio given
  • Elicits feedback from clients to enhance client service and identify future needs and tax service opportunities
  • Run a portfolio of clients with limited Partner involvement
  • Consulting to clients on tax matters
  • Negotiate fees with clients, bill for work done and ensure fees are collected
  • Managing a team
  • Develop South African specific tax knowledge
  • Analyses and presents new tax legislation to identify new opportunities for the market
  • Sourcing new clients in the market
  • Ensuring quality standards are maintained in all assignments
  • Research Customs and Trade matters and provide advice thereon.
  • Liaising with clients, SARS, ITAC and other relevant Government bodies in addressing appeals ,submissions and applications.
  • Build relationships with SARS (Customs Division)
  • Risk management
  • Research trends and develop knowledge in this specialization area
  • Recommend and implement the most appropriate solutions
  • Involvement with skills development and people management
  • Performing and managing customs compliance audits/ reviews.
  • Identifying risks and planning opportunities at clients relating to Customs and Trade matters.
  • Preparation of technical opinion letters and reports
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislative and industry changes

 

Candidate

We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications:

  • BComm Hons(ideally a CA) or LLB qualification
  • Master’s degree in Tax or Higher Diploma in Taxation

 

You would need to have the following Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum of 5years tax experience with a Professional Services Firm
  • Good understanding of business principles
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Inventory,WIP and Client Management Experience
  • Previous working experience in the international market would be advantageous

International Tax – Senior Manager

Role

We are looking for the best and brightest, a person who is best able to fulfil the following job requirements:

Key Performance Areas

  • Managing and consulting to a portfolio of medium to large corporate clients, locally and internationally
  • Winning business and growing the client base
  • Extensive client liaison and engagement with related stakeholders (SARS/National Treasury etc)
  • Managing and developing our people
  • Cross-selling Deloitte services (Tax and other Deloitte services)

 

Candidate

We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications:

  • CA (SA); BComm(Accounting) or LLB qualification
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in Tax
  • HDip in International Tax is recommended but not a prerequisite

 

You would need to have the following Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • At least  four years corporate and international tax experience
  • Previous experience dealing with the following is essential: 
  • Tax treaty interpretations
  • Application of South Africa’s CFC rules 
  • Structuring of cross-border financing activities
  • Knowledge of a foreign language would be a definite advantage
  • Previous working experience in the international market would be advantageous
  • You would need to have the following Behavioural Competencies:

Tax Management Consulting – Data Analytics – Senior Consultant/Assistant Manager

Role

We are looking for the person who is best able to fulfill the following job requirements

  • Implement tax software products at clients
  • Assist in providing training to clients on the tax software
  • Provide support to existing client
  • Assist in identifying problems or issues with the tax software and make recommendations to management on how support or programs can be improved;
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to assist clients with further automating their tax processes and bring these to the attention of management

 

Candidate

We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications:

  • BComm or equivalent
  • Additional financial (e.g. Honours) or tax qualifications are not required but would be an advantage

 

You would need to have the following Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Experience within a tax environment;
  • Understanding of tax compliance requirements as well as tax accounting and provision work;
  • Experience developing and maintaining spreadsheets and/or database applications is preferred;
  • An understanding of various software products i.e. Windows NT, Windows 2000 MS Office 2000;
  • Experience in implementation of ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
  • Travel daily

 

You would need to have the following Behavioural Competencies:

  • Must be service oriented, with excellent follow through skills
  • Planning and organisation skills
