The new organisation: Different by design

Drawing from survey research collected from more business and HR leaders, this year’s report theme, The new organisation: Different by design, reflects the importance top executives place on redesigning the organisation itself, and adapting their organisation’s design to compete successfully in today’s highly challenging business environment and highly competitive talent market. The South African Human Capital Trends 2016 report sketches out a vast and insightful series of changes and challenges that are disrupting the workforce, the workplace, and work itself. As the pace of change accelerates, business and HR leaders who move aggressively to address these trends will gain an advantage over their competitors, and find themselves on the winning side in the global competition for talent.

Is your organisation ready?

Organisations have tremendously changed from what they were a decade ago.  To highlight some of these organisational changes, we have compiled the Deloitte Human Capital Trends Report for South Africa 2016 which details how the traditional top-down hierarchy organisational structure is crumbling to make way for the design of a “new organisation.”  

Successful organisations focus on the employee experience, and are run by cross-functional networks of teams. With all these changes, the report found that business leaders are not being developed fast enough in a rapidly changing business landscape and HR systems and technologies are not keeping up either. 

This is a country-based report that can be read in conjunction with the overall findings from the 2016 Global Human Capital Trends survey. However, we have provided a synopsis of the Global Findings in this report so that it can be read as a “stand alone”. This year we had 213 responses from all industry groups in South Africa.
