The 2022 Deloitte Africa Future of Trust Forensic Symposium

In association with the ACFE

The value of trust

To commemorate International Fraud Awareness Week, Deloitte Africa, in partnership with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, is hosting the 2022 Deloitte Future of Trust Forensic Symposium across the continent, on 16 November 2022.

At Deloitte, we believe that trust is the foundation of all successful relationships, whether they be social, professional, or societal. We build trust through our actions, our decisions, and our conduct. Unfortunately, in business, trust rarely receives the attention it deserves.

At Deloitte Africa Forensics, we emphasise building trust through our entire value chain to deliver growth and prosperity to everyone we deal with, from employees and clients to suppliers and beyond.

It’s easy to see the connection between Forensics and trust. In the past, the focus was uncovering fraud, abuse, and corruption, and putting processes in place to mitigate them. But what if you could prevent these problems with the simple, low-tech approach of building trust in a business? We believe that focusing on improving relationships with employees and ensuring there is trust will most likely influence employees to conduct themselves ethically.

When you take care of your people, your people will, in turn, take care of the established processes. This ensures that governances, and everything else, falls into place. When you empower your people by developing their competence, this allows your stakeholders to trust in your ability to deliver on your promises.

Trust should no longer be considered an old-fashioned value because, in business, it is the key to unlocking real, sustainable value.
