Volunteering to create a better, more equitable future for all communities

At Deloitte, our purpose, to make an impact that matters, is embedded in everything we do. One of our priorities is to make a lasting, positive impact in our communities. Our global WorldClass ambition of impacting 100 million lives is how we demonstrate our commitment in the community.

Our WorldClass ambition is to impact 300,000 lives in Ireland by 2030

The WorldClass ambition focuses on impacting lives through programs and partnerships with leading educational organisations worldwide. Millions of people around the world are held back from achieving their full potential. The answer? Investing in education and skills.  This foundation of opportunity and progress will create better futures for all.

A central part of our business growth strategy is ensuring we lead with purpose in everything we do. As part of our strategy we have committed €5 million to our Deloitte Impact Fund. This will enable our journey to impact at least 300,000 lives in Ireland by 2030 as part of the global WorldClass ambition.

We will reach this ambition by investing our people's time, providing volunteers, and donations to support students, teachers, and education leaders in our communities.  Examples of some of our key WorldClass partnerships include –

Junior Achievement Ireland: Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) prepares young people for the future by delivering hands-on, experiential learning in entrepreneurship, employability, financial literacy, and the value of STEM. Deloitte volunteers across Ireland deliver JAI programmes in DEIS (Delivering of Equality of Opportunity In Schools) classified primary and secondary schools.

Age Action: Age Action works for a society where all older people can participate and live full, independent lives. Our volunteers deliver the Computer Literacy programme which helps older people bridge the digital divide. Closing the digital literacy gap in older people reduces exclusion and isolation and increases independence and equality.

Early Learning Initiative: The Early Learning Initiative (ELI) addresses the problem of educational underachievement in marginalised communities in Dublin. Building upon tried and tested models of early years’ intervention this initiative provides parent and child learning support programmes. Deloitte volunteers deliver ELI programmes in the community throughout the year.

Time to Talk: Time to Talk is a language skills programme with Business in The Community Ireland. It supports those who find themselves outside of the workforce for extended periods of time by helping individuals gain more confidence in their English conversational skills.  Deloitte volunteers are paired with a Time to Talk participant for one-to-one weekly connections over an 8-week period. Through their participation the individuals improve their English language skills and gain an understanding of Irish culture and practices.

These are just some of our programmes that align to our WorldClass ambition of developing job skills, improving educational outcomes and expanding opportunities for the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in our society.

Throughout 2022 and 2023, colleagues across Deloitte Ireland have invested over 14,000 hours of their time and professional skills, volunteering, as well as nearly €1,000,000 in donations. As part of our WorldClass programmes in support of thousands of students, teachers, and education leaders nationally we have reached 50,000 lives this year alone. We are on track to surpass our initial goal of impacting 300,000 lives in Ireland by 2030 as a result.
