Helping students overcome the obstacles they face on their path to college readiness
Through RightStep, Deloitte’s strategy to address education needs across America, we are committing time, talent, and resources to help students overcome obstacles to prepare for and persist through high school and college, then transition to a career.
Helping make college a reality for students
The demand for college-educated workers is growing, but only one in four students are prepared to enter college. Deloitte’s enterprise-wide effort—RightStep—aims to improve college readiness by mobilizing 10,000 of our professionals as volunteers and leveraging firm resources to impact 500,000 underrepresented students over three years.
One example is the RightStep Virtual Mentoring Program, which engages Deloitte professionals as mentors in helping underserved youth across the US navigate the college application process. The program, fueled by the Deloitte Foundation RightStep Education Fund, has grown to become the largest year-round volunteer engagement opportunity at Deloitte.
Giving a year, getting a lifetime
Deloitte helps City Year put at-risk students and volunteers in a position to succeed.
Through the experiences of three Deloitte practitioners—Erin Moss, Brendan Lehan, and Bill Copeland—we see firsthand how City Year changes lives in many ways. Their stories bring to life the powerful effect an individual can have on both those in need as well as those who are giving.
Deloitte’s transformative collaboration with City Year including intellectual capital, volunteer leadership, and financial resources has propelled City Year to develop and execute effective strategies in support of keeping students on track to success.

Building leadership experiences for educators
Through our Courageous Principals program, Deloitte connects principals from school systems across the country with top leaders in business, the public sector, and nonprofit organizations for a series of leadership development workshops that produce break-through thinking and action.
“Deloitte’s pro bono work for College Summit didn’t just allow us to focus on our programs, it turbocharged the impact of those programs. Now high school teachers, principals, and district superintendents are able to follow the progress of low-income students on their path to college—and intervene immediately wherever help is needed."
- Keith Frome, CEO of College Summit
