Based in the Al-Khobar office in KSA, Shankar is the Energy, Resources and Industrials Tax Leader at Deloitte Middle East (DME), focused on providing tax advisory services in all segments of the Energy & chemicals, power, utilities & renewables, and mining & metals sectors.

Shankar is also a Partner in the International and M&A Tax service line at DME. Prior to joining Deloitte, Shankar was a Partner in Ernst & Young - Middle East, serving large Energy companies and spearheading major International and M&A Tax projects. His experience includes advising on Energy tax regimes, pre and post IPO, raising international debt, major acquisitions and reorganizations in key market jurisdictions, forming JVs, etc. He assists energy companies in dealing with tax opportunities and challenges arising out of emerging industry issues like price volatility, energy security, supply chain disruption and transition to green energy, etc.

Shankar has almost 20 years of global tax experience working in Big Four firms and building & leading various tax teams. He has extensively worked as a key point of contact with large multinational companies, particularly across the energy and technology industries.

Shankar is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, as well as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has developed thought leadership publications including Doing Business and Country Tax Guides in association with World Bank and other fiscal organizations.
