What do the trends from the Global Health Care Outlook 2023 mean for the Swiss health care sector?
The pandemic has transformed the health care sector – directly through the use of new technologies such as RNA vaccines, but also indirectly through the acceleration of existing trends such as digitalisation, which will continue to have a major impact on the sector going forward. In addition, health care is increasingly in the spotlight, as society wants to see improvements and minimise risks in this area as well. In Switzerland, digitalisation plays a major role in all of this, but the people who work in the sector also play a part, of course. The past few years have shown that a lot needs to be done to make a career in this sector more attractive, as the shortage of trained staff must not be allowed to get worse while the number of patients continues to rise.
Deloitte’s Global Health Care Outlook 2023 investigates the current status of the health care sector in a global context and focuses on five key areas:
Outlook in Switzerland
In Switzerland, access to high-quality medical care is guaranteed for everyone thanks to mandatory health insurance. The topic of health equity is therefore less relevant here than in other countries. Like in other industries, sustainability aspects also play a role in the health care sector, and Swiss hospitals have introduced various measures to address this. However, the other topics are more important when it comes to the key issue, namely improving people’s health.
