Auditing: Deloitte is playing a key role in increasing trust in the economy
Zurich, 14 July 2022
Alessandro Miolo, Head of Audit & Assurance at Deloitte Switzerland, has been elected President of the Audit Expert Commission of the EXPERTsuisse industry association. With this appointment, the leading professional services firm is making a major contribution to developing the auditing profession in the interest of Switzerland as a business location. The profession is involved in some exciting areas and is playing a key role in tackling pressing issues such as sustainability.
The board of EXPERTsuisse appointed Alessandro Miolo at the start of July. The Audit Expert Commission deals with current and future legal and regulatory developments related to the auditing of financial statements and other complex matters. It also publishes position statements and professional publications, as well as providing various training and CPD courses for auditors. In his new role, Miolo will be responsible for maintaining relationships with stakeholders such as business associations, supervisory authorities, policymakers and companies.
“I am looking forward to this new challenge. The industry is in a state of transformation and is facing ever-increasing demands. By auditing more non-financial metrics, such as climate-related figures reported by large companies, we are constantly assuming more responsibility towards society,” explains Miolo.
Alessandro Miolo would like to play an active part in helping to make auditing even more attractive as a profession. “I am convinced that our training, which offers comprehensive insights into the industry, is ideally suited to the needs of young people. Auditing is an important and diverse profession that creates transparency and trust in our society.” Next year will see some fundamental changes to how auditor training is provided in Switzerland: students will learn more about digital technologies and sustainability, and the teaching will also become more digital.
Deloitte itself recorded strong growth in the past financial year (up to the end of May), particularly in its Audit & Assurance business. The figures will be announced in September.
