Deloitte China named a top five employer

Committed to "4+1" corporate culture

Published: 4 December 2018

Deloitte China is proud to have received the "Top Employer China 2019" certification from the Top Employers Institute, which recognizes excellence in the conditions employers create for their people. This is the 13th consecutive year Deloitte China has received the certification, a strong testament to the firm's commitment to making an impact that matters for our people. This year, Deloitte China reached another important milestone, attaining our highest ever ranking at #4.

The Top Employers Institute, founded in 1991, is committed to a people-oriented approach to identifying leading employers worldwide with excellent talent management and best practices.

Participating companies must undergo a stringent research process and meet the required standards to achieve the certification. The comprehensive assessment covers 10 key aspects, namely talent strategy, workforce planning, on-boarding, learning & development, performance management, leadership development, career & succession management, compensation & benefits and culture. The process includes a critical review of answers and documents provided, a third-party audit of processes and data, and the rating of participants’ performance scores against an international standard.

According to Deloitte China CEO Patrick Tsang, building a strong corporate culture is the backbone of the firm's strategy. With this in mind, Deloitte China has introduced its new "4+1" culture —courage, innovation, inclusion, well-being + integrity—seeking to support every aspect of the personal and career development of our people. "Ultimately, our goal is to create an environment in which our people can be proud they work for Deloitte. That means giving them a unique career experience characterized by Deloitte's commitment to its clients and talent and responsibility to our communities," Tsang adds.

Deloitte China Chief Talent Officer Jungle Wong says, "To deliver on our promise of providing high-value services, it is crucial to build a talent culture that promotes innovation and supports the development of new capabilities by our people, especially in the current digital age. Bearing this in mind, we have leveraged the internet and social media networks to engage with job candidates, and adopted digital tools such as live streaming, mobile games and hackathons under our campus recruitment campaign.

"Internally, we have introduced a new performance management system that enables our people to get more immediate feedback from different parties and facilitates their day-to-day communication. We have also developed learning experience with digitized content and formats to facilitate continuous learning for our people in the digital age."
