Deloitte China supports AICPA & CIMA SEC Conference 2019

The AICPA & CIMA SEC Conference was held in Hong Kong again this year, running from September 23 to 25. More than 200 CFOs and other management personnel from US listed companies and Asia based FPIs, as well as professional practitioners, attended the conference. During the three-day event, prominent accounting leaders from U.S. and Asian regulators and speakers from the FASB and IASB shared their thoughts on accounting, reporting and compliance issues that are pertinent to Asian companies.

Deloitte China shared insights on the subject of IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards, highlighting our confidence and expertise in this technical accounting field. D.J. Gannon, Global Capital Markets Group Quality Control leader, DTTL Global Center of Excellence for Audit Quality; Viola You, Global Capital Markets Group partner; Technical Partner Mateusz Lasik; FASB Chair Russ Golden; and  Henry Rees from the IASB technical panel shared recent accounting developments in U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards.

Assurance Partner Leon Fan at a round table discussed the new challenges and impact brought about by financial transformations and digital disruption, as well as the future of accounting and finance as it transforms in the digital age, showing Deloitte China's extensive resources and strong capacity to support clients in this field.

Delphine Troch and Juiling Shi, partners in the Global Capital Markets Group, and Jimmy Lai, former CFO of China Online Education Group (51Talk), then gave more insights into the accounting and reporting issues, as well as prospective developments, faced by FPIs.

Audit & Assurance Partner Jimmy Chen held an interactive session with event participants in which he shared the key impacts and challenges encountered by organizations as a result of significant changes in lease accounting, as well as best practices on how to successfully implement new lease accounting standards under multiple GAAPs.

Deloitte China Audit Partner Judy Wong, Tax Partner Shanice Siu and Senior Manager Eric Sun from the Global Capital Markets Group led a roundtable sharing session on financial reporting and tax issues faced by Chinese companies during the U.S. IPO process.
