Deloitte Delivered Keynote Speeches at 2016 Global Automotive Forum
The 7th Global Automotive Forum (GAF) was held in Chongqing on Jun 6-7 for the second year. Featuring the topic "Pivoting to a New Round of Development-China Opportunities: The 13th Five-Year Plan and Made-in-China 2025", the forum aims to lead the discussion among the industry players on how to grasp the growth opportunities under the new historical conditions in a strategic way.
As GAF's strategic partner, Deloitte Automotive Industry experts were invited to attend the forum and deliver keynote speeches. On the opening day, Charles Knight, Global Director for Deloitte’s M&A Services, joined the session of "The Role of M&A in the Development of the Auto Industry in China and Globally" and shared his viewpoints on how Chinese companies use M&A as a mean to seek inorganic growth and the things to watch out during M&A. Then, Deloitte China Auto Risk Advisory Leader Total Chow participated the "Automotive Aftermarket Revolution: Next Area of Growth for Dealers and Component Suppliers" debate session. Total discussed the current landscape of China automotive aftermarket, how aftermarket transform could stimulate new growth and the investment hotspots in the new business model with emphasis on the customer experience and shared economy.
Leveraging the forum's media sources, Deloitte Automotive team released "2016 China Automotive Industry Outbound Investment Report" at the forum. The press conference was co-anchored by Deloitte Global M&A Services Director Charles Knight, Deloitte China Automotive M&A Services Partner Michael Yu, and Deloitte China Automotive Tax Services Managing Partner Lillian Xiao. The report analyzes the key drivers behind China automotive industry outbound investments. Then, evaluates different forms of outbound investments as well as the challenges and risks coming along with the outbound investments. A dozen of mainstream media picked up the story. On June 7th, Dr. Marco Hecker, Deloitte Automotive Consulting Manager Partner, was invited to speak at two panels. On "Future of Mobility: How Transportation Technology and Social Trends Change?", Dr. Hecker looked into the future toward a sharing and autonomous mobility scenario, and pointed out the huge market potential for China to develop shared mobility. On "China's Internet Plus Vision: How will it Impact the Auto Industry", Dr. Hecker recommended auto companies to develop new capabilities, i.e. around big data & analytics and collaborations, and collaborate with the ‘disruptors’ in the marketplace in order to be successful in the new 'Internet Plus' ecosystem.
