Financial Markets Regulatory Outlook 2019
Ten years on from the crisis
Nearly ten years after the financial crisis, the long shadow it has cast has started to fade. Amid varied approaches and timetables to national implementation of agreed prudential reforms, attention is now more acutely focused on culture and governance, the challenges of new technology, and emerging economic, market and operational risks. Deloitte believes that firms need to be prepared to respond to this shifting focus and the new demands that it will place on them.
The 2019 edition covers a mixture of cross-sector and sector-specific issues of strategic significance for financial services firms, from the challenges of Brexit and the increasing importance of climate change, through to LIBOR reform, cyber security developments, and much more.
Alongside our six cross‑sector themes, Deloitte has identified six supervisory constants which will be important areas of supervisory focus in 2019: governance and culture; scrutiny of the resilience of firms’ business models to the changing risk environment; firms’ protection and use of data; access and vulnerable customers; testing for cyber vulnerabilities; and model risk management.
