Deloitte Romania Promotes Eight New Directors As Practice Grows

As Deloitte’s Romania practice has continued to grow, the firm has promoted eight new directors covering all service lines: tax, audit, risk advisory, management consulting and financial advisory.

Deloitte through its various business units in Romania has continued to make progress by growing its business by more than 10% in each of the previous for 5 years. At the same time to support quality services to our clients, Deloitte is expanding its leadership through internal promotions and external hiring. After almost 25 years in Romania Deloitte has over 600 professionals in its offices. This year the firm plans to hire more than 75 new employees to support its business plans. Deloitte conducts its business in Romania through offices located in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara. 

 

Who are the new directors

Tax Services:

Silviu Sandache is a tax professional whose primary focus is the Romanian energy and resource businesses. He serves the biggest players in oil & gas on-shore and off-shore as well as the most important companies in power distribution and supply. Silviu has led teams in assisting clients during M&A projects, reorganizations, business modelling and tax litigations. Silviu has an economic background, graduating from the Marketing Faculty in ASE. He has been a member of the Romanian Tax Advisors Chamber since 2006 and graduated from ACCA in 2009. Silviu also plays an active role in the Tax Committee of AmCham in Romania.

Camelia Malahov is Deloitte Romania's direct tax expert for Retail and Consumer Business companies, with experience spanning over 11 years. Camelia is a trusted fiscal advisor for top domestic and international companies, providing ongoing assistance on matters specific to the Retail and Consumer Business industry. Some of these companies have been working with Camelia ever since their entry on the local market, when she provided the necessary fiscal advice on related transactions and investment structures. Her future responsibilities include further consolidating Deloitte’s position on the market and growing a dedicated team ready to support and advise Retail and Consumer Business companies, in view of an ever complex and challenging business environment, both locally and abroad. Camelia graduated from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in 2005 with a major in Accounting and Audit. She is a Chartered Certified Tax Advisor and member of the Fiscal Consultants Chamber.

Audit

Oana Buhaescu has more than 12 years of experience in audit and advisory. Oana has wide experience in auditing financial statements in accordance with the Romanian Accounting Standards, US GAAP and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). She has also conducted advisory services for financial statements in accordance with the IFRS. Oana was involved in several due diligence projects, SOX testing as well as in market research and business plans. Oana supervises audit team members and reviews their work, maintains contacts with clients and plans and executes financial audits. She is a member of CAFR, CECCAR and ACCA.

Adrian Covacescu has successfully developed a new business line around transformation of organizations now part of Deloitte Private Initiative addressing established private enterprises run by a single family or not. Adrian started his career in 2003 as an auditor and enjoyed the opportunity of working on international due diligence projects. He has been with Deloitte since 2007 where he has continued to develop his experience in Transaction Services, Forensic and Audit related services.

Mircea Nicolae Cotoros is an experienced professional with over 11 years of practice in European affairs both at policy and EU funding level, having acted for EU bodies such as the EU Commission and the European Parliament as well as the Representation of the Veneto Regional Government in Brussels. Mircea has significantly contributed to the firm’s EU financing business line both with public and private companies. He is a graduate in Economics from the Trieste University and has a certificate in project management, public acquisitions, evaluation and fraud risk prevention of European projects.

Risk Advisory

Catalin Tiganila has over 15 years of experience in IT Audit, Information Security and IT Governance. Catalin has been involved in marketing and providing professional services in Romania and Moldova as well as for countries in Central-Eastern Europe and the Middle East. His specializes in Information & Cyber Security, Controls Transformation, IT Audits, ISAE 3042 and SSAE 16 Readiness and Audit, Risk Management, Internet Security, Business Continuity, Business Process Improvement, Project Management, Training, IT Advisory, SOX 404 Design and Implementation. Catalin is a board member of (ISC)2 Romania Chapter, a professional non-profit organization specialized in information security education and certification.

Management Consulting

Radu Kubinschi is a management consulting professional with a wide array of expertise, providing consulting services to both public and private clients for more than 20 years. He has deep expertise in an integrate macroeconomic and public policy-related projects covering services related to technical assistance to public institutions, public policies (design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation), training & institutional building, human capital development related projects, process reengineering, EU funds & alternative financing & financial instruments, social initiatives (health, education, social inclusion – Rroma component). He is well-reputed for his experience within Deloitte and on the market due to the considerable size of the projects he managed, being a key element in positioning Deloitte as leader on the EU/ public sector account in Romania and in the region. 

Financial Advisory

Florin Paunescu is a corporate finance professional with expertise in origination and execution of more than 40 projects in acquisitions, divestitures, mergers and de-mergers, joint ventures, spin-offs, leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, privatization advice and project finance. He has 13 years of experience in investment banking and corporate finance and he closed a number of successful M&A transactions in Romania for foreign investors. He is a graduate in International Business and Economics from ASE and in engineering from the Faculty of Power Engineering. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Financial Management and Capital Markets from ASE.
