EU Platform published its proposals for taxonomy

The EU Sustainable Finance Platform published two reports at the end of March 2022 with proposals to further develop the European Sustainable Taxonomy Framework.

Report on taxonomy extension options supporting a sustainable transition:

The report on the extended environmental taxonomy ("The Extended Environmental Taxonomy: Final Report on Taxonomy extension options supporting a sustainable transition") aims to support environmentally sustainable transition of economic activities.

This is to be done by adding new categories of economic activities:

  • "significantly harmful activities": significant impairment of at least one environmental objective (red category);
  • "intermediate performance activities": intermediate activities (yellow category); and
  • "low impact activities": economic activities with low environmental impact (gray category).
