Felix Brandes joins the Hanover office as a partner
Deloitte Legal expands its financial regulatory practice
With Felix Brandes, Deloitte Legal has gained another specialist for financial regulatory law at its Hanover office. After working as an in-house lawyer at a major German bank and a lawyer at a US law firm, Felix Brandes most recently worked for the legal advisory arm of another Big 4 firm.
The 46-year-old Brandes will join Deloitte Legal's cross-location financial regulatory law team as a partner on October 1, 2024. At Deloitte Legal, Mr. Brandes will advise German and international clients on all aspects of financial regulatory law. He has a particular focus on advising development banks. In addition, he will continue to advise credit and investment institutions on issues relating to the German Securities Trading Act (Wertpapierhandelsgesetz”) and regulatory requirements for innovative business models and financial products, including banking-as-a-service and crypto assets.
"We are very much looking forward to working with Felix Brandes," said Dr. Mathias Hanten, Head of Banking & Finance at Deloitte Legal. "With his particular expertise in the law of development banks and his experience from his previous work as an in-house lawyer at a major bank, Felix perfectly complements our expertise." Andreas Jentgens, Managing Partner of Deloitte Legal, adds: "With his profound expertise, Felix creates additional cross-divisional advisory opportunities in financial regulatory law, especially for development banks. This supports the implementation of our medium and long-term growth strategy. Dr. Harald Stang, Head of Deloitte Legal's Hanover office, particularly welcomes the addition of local banking regulatory expertise to the office.
Commenting on his move, Felix Brandes said: "One of the main reasons for my decision to join Deloitte Legal is the broad, excellently networked and very likeable team. Given the increasingly complex challenges and interdependencies in financial regulatory law, I am convinced that Deloitte's multidisciplinary approach will enable us to develop and implement the best solutions for our clients. I am delighted to be able to contribute to this".
