Tell us about your career path at Deloitte (How long have you worked for Deloitte, how has your career evolved?)
I started with Deloitte Germany in September 2015 as a professional in employer branding. Within my team, I am responsible for the online and social media presence for our talent and potential recruits. Since joining the firm about two years ago, I’ve experienced a great journey filled with inspiring people, outstanding support and many different opportunities to advance my career. From workshops to international trainings, Deloitte Germany provides many different facets to improve my skills. Using this, I was able to develop into a senior position. Best of all, I have the privilege to work with great talent that share an international mindset and foster each other’s development. Every day at Deloitte Germany is different and that’s why I’m excited to go to work over and over again.
What has been your favorite part of working for Deloitte?
The international network and vast career opportunities are what I cherish about Deloitte Germany. During a three-year stay in the US while earning my university degree and gaining early work experience, I was overwhelmed by the open-minded and welcoming culture. Settling back in Germany, I wasn’t sure what to expect of the German business culture. Deloitte Germany definitely surprised me with the most welcoming and supportive culture and work ethics I could imagine. Of the many great things I can say about my team, there is one thing for sure: we have the best team spirit ever!
What has been most interesting, challenging, or surprising about working for Deloitte?
The most interesting thing that I have experienced is that, although we are a big and diverse company, each of us are eager to meet new people and learn about different cultures. Our workforce combines more than 75 different nationalities, many different academic backgrounds and personalities. I personally think there isn’t any greater asset than this kind of diversity.
What will stand out for you as the greatest benefit of working for Deloitte?
The opportunities that come along with a great international network, both for professional and personal, intercultural development. Above this, I acknowledge Deloitte Germany’s innovational focus and spirit. Within my job, I work a lot with talent analytics and online metrics. Having the technical infrastructure and most innovative tools makes this part of my work even more fun. Our leaders always encourage us to try something new and to stay at the top of new developments. Innovation definitely is a big topic at Deloitte Germany.
How do you feel that you have been able to make an impact while working at Deloitte?
In my daily work, I connect potential recruits with vast career opportunities at one of the world’s leading professional services firms. This is how I make an impact for Deloitte Germany and for our talent.
What is one thing that people might be surprised to learn about you?
People might find it surprising or even funny that, although I am 5’11” tall, I ride Icelandic Horses (or, as others would say, “ponies,” because they’re little) in my free time.
Where do you see your career going in the next 5 years?
Most importantly, I aim to be part of a great organization and team culture—which we have here at Deloitte Germany. I strive to develop my skills and expertise further to advance to the next level and to lead a team myself at some point. I would love to share my experience with junior talent to help in their development. Besides this, I would really like to work with an international team or even with another Deloitte member firm outside of Germany to broaden my horizons even further and challenge myself to learn a new language and culture.
