India’s Best Managed Companies Programme

Two stages constitute the Best Managed Companies (BMC) programme.

Stage 1: Invited eligible companies will be asked to fill out a Stage 1 application. This will present a high-level overview of the business, ensuring the company is best suited to benefit from the BMC programme.

Stage 2: The companies identified move on to the next phase will participate in a BMC Lab with our trained Deloitte coaches. This will be a half-day lab that will deep dive into the company’s strategy, governance and financials, culture and commitment, and capabilities and innovation.

Using the information from the lab, companies will find out a second application.

The applications will be reviewed by an independent judging panel that will determine which companies will receive the Best Managed Companies designation in 2022. The companies that make the cut will be felicitated at a Best Managed Companies marquee event.

What does the Best Managed Lab involve?

The Lab will run for up to three hours, during which trained Deloitte coaches and a company’s leadership team will collectively explore the management practices employed in their business and how this compares to global benchmarks. The interactive session requires no pre-work; participants will be asked to think about the business in relation to four key pillars – strategy, capabilities and innovation, culture and commitment, and governance and financials. The lab works best when we have the whole leadership team involved, or at least a cross section that can address the four areas.

The lab is the most efficient way to complete the phase 2 application with input from both a company’s leadership team and Best Managed coaches. We recommend that companies bring a marketing or communications colleague with them to take notes during the session and complete the phase 2 application afterwards. Following the lab, the companies will be sent a report that will include the global benchmarking framework and copies of the posters completed during the session.
