Deloitte amongst the ‘Top 10 Best Companies for Women in India’
Deloitte, a leading professional services organisation, has won the coveted Best Companies for Women in India Award 2016 (BCWI Award).
Mumbai, 10 November 2016: Deloitte has emerged as one of the top 10 Best Companies for Working Mothers in India - a recognition based on the "2016 Working Mother & AVTAR Best Companies for Women in India survey," which covered key demographics related to a company’s workforce, practices, and policies that organizations have in place to attract, engage, retain and develop women professionals.
The study ranked organizations by evaluating them across various parameters including women’s recruitment, retention, and advancement initiatives, safety and security measures for women employees, flexible work arrangements and support extended for maternity and life-changing events, benefits to help enable and advance women’s careers, and policies around work-life integration.
Several strategic initiatives specific to gender inclusion are integrated into Deloitte’s culture. One of the key initiatives is a sponsorship program aimed at developing leaders, which helps high-performing women professionals build their career, provides opportunities for high visibility projects and helps them navigate the organization. This has proven to be effective in the development of a strong women leadership pipeline.
"At Deloitte, we believe in championing an inclusive work environment that enables equal opportunity and encourages and nurtures exceptional talent—regardless of gender, thereby facilitating a business advantage and making an impact that matters," said N. Venkatram, Managing Partner and CEO, Deloitte India
Deloitte offers its professionals a formal framework for flexible work options such as remote work, telecommuting, and flexi-time, and choices that help them balance their personal and professional commitments. Deloitte is focused on ensuring that its women professionals have access to all the necessary support that they might need. The enhancement of the paid maternity leave policy to 26 weeks, even before initiation of the changes in the statutory requirements in India, is one such example. This when combined with other related benefits such as the maternity support program, and transportation reimbursement for expectant mothers for comfortable travel to and from the office, serves as a market differentiator for Deloitte.
Deloitte believes in a holistic approach with a focus on mental, physical and emotional well-being. With “Empowered Well-being” programs, the firm helps professionals balance personal and professional commitments while leading healthy and purposeful lives. Built on the foundation of flexibility, the program combines aspects of nurturing health and engaging the mind, while creating a sense of purpose to help each professional stay productive and involved.
"Inclusion is core to everything we do, and helps us further potential, accelerate growth, and connect aspirations with opportunities, for our professionals. Our programs and policies empower professionals to balance their personal and professional commitments, and lead healthy and purposeful lives," said Bruce Stewart, Principal, Deloitte LLP.
