Classification, Valuation, and Operation of Investment Portfolio of Commercial Banks
On 14 January 2022, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a Discussion Paper (DP), proposing revisions to the existing norms governing the classification, valuation, and operation of investment portfolios held by commercial banks. After a period of considering the feedback on the DP, the RBI has now taken the next step by issuing the Master Direction - Classification, Valuation and Operation of Investment Portfolio of Commercial Banks (Directions), 2023, which was officially released on 12 September 2023.
