On 23 March 2020, the Global Employer Services (GES) group in Deloitte Tax hosted a webcast on the immigration and cross-border tax considerations related to COVID-19. The panel discussed the response to COVID-19 from the tax and immigration authorities in EMEA, highlighting EU member country immigration activities, and recent government tax and social security announcements in the UK, Europe and beyond.

On 31 March 2020, the Global Employer Services (GES) group in Deloitte Tax and Deloitte Legal hosted a webinar on the Employment Law & Employment tax implications of COVID-19. The webinar had a UK focus, and the panel primarily discussed the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme announced by the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer as part of the package of measures to support businesses. Some additional guidance was provided on the wider UK employment tax issues relevant to the current situation, including the taxation of benefits in kind for remote working, considerations around redundancies, and potential relaxations on time to pay.

The webcast by the Global Employer Services (GES) group in Deloitte Tax together with Deloitte Consulting Human Capital covers medium and longer-term impacts of COVID-19 on the work we do, the workforce, and the workplace.
