European business beyond crisis mode

The fourth edition of the European Economic Policy Forum was held on 6th July at the European Parliament. The initiative has became a recurring appointment for the Institutional and economic community based in Brussels and represents an opportunity of meeting and reflection on the main economic and political variables that characterize the current geopolitical context.

During the event - organized in collaboration with the Italian Initiative Group in Brussels, under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy to the Kingdom of Belgium – Deloitte contributed to the debate presenting the results of the CFO Survey 2023, a study that highlights the economic sentiment and the opinions of approximately 1,400 Chief Financial Officers of major EU corporations.

The conference provided a high-profile forum for discussion regarding the current economic and industrial outlook in the EU, gathering representatives of business Associations, including the Italian Confindustria and the Spanish CEOE.

The initiative brought together more than 100 representatives of the Brussels institutional and public affairs community, as well as policymakers, diplomatic representations and high-level figures in the media and economic panorama. The speakers who attended the event were:

Riccardo Raffo

CFO Program Leader

In Deloitte dal 1992, dove inizia la sua esperienza nella revisione contabile, partecipando inoltre a incarichi di due diligence e collaborando anche a progetti di risk assessment e di natura consulenziale (focalizzati in particolare allo sviluppo di modelli di business, piani aziendali, creazione di valore e razionalizzazione delle strutture di costo) presso aziende manifatturiere facenti parte di primari gruppi italiani ed internazionali. Dottore commercialista e Revisore contabile, approfondisce la conoscenza dei Principi Contabili Internazionali, anche nel contesto della revisione di società e gruppi quotati in Borsa, dove matura qualificanti esperienze connesse a operazioni straordinarie ed ai relativi adempimenti. Nell’ambito dell’organizzazione Deloitte ricopre la carica di Travel Hospitality & Service Audit Leader. Dal 2014 è nominato CFO Program Leader per Deloitte Italia. Come tale, partecipa a numerosi meeting internazionali e CFO Academy; è inoltre relatore in conferenze sul ruolo del CFO e facilitator in numerosi CFO Transition Lab.

Alessandro De Luca

Alessandro De Luca

Public Policy Leader, Deloitte Italy

Alessandro is leading the Deloitte Italy’s Public Policy Program. Since 2015, he is Director at the Brussels-based Deloitte EU Policy Centre, aimed at facilitating dialogue among Deloitte professionals, policy makers and business leaders, developing perspectives, analysis and insights on public interest themes affecting socio-economic growth and development in Italy and in Europe. Previously, he worked as auditor manager at Deloitte since 2014, where he developed extensive experience in coordinating cross-border assignments of multinational Groups. Also, he gained consolidated experience in coordinating other assurance and non-assurance engagement, such as: compliance projects (US-SOX and Italian equivalent legislation), IPOs, other special assignments (unbundling, due diligence), clients’ assistance with the internal control systems. He provides training for audit managers as facilitator within Deloitte's internal learning programs. Alessandro studied International Economics at Växjö University in Sweden and obtained a Master in Business Administration from the University of Rome 'La Sapienza'.
