Deloitte’s Global Chemicals Think Tanks are a series of events that bring together international leaders from Deloitte, industry leading companies, and academia to discuss emerging trends, business matters and technologies in the chemicals sector as well as the ecosystem in and around the sector. The themes listed below of the most recent Think Tank events provide an idea of the depth and breadth of our thought-provoking series.

16th Deloitte Global Chemicals Think Tank | November 29-30, 2017 | Basel, Switzerland

The most recent event focused on “The future of agriculture and food” ranging from topics across the value chain from plate to plant. Participants from chemicals, specialty materials, life sciences, and consumer products sectors experienced presentations, panels and group discussions on changing consumer preferences, innovation and digitalization, M&A activities and ecosystems, and the future of work. The site visit to one of Syngenta´s top global R&D sites allowed the participants to experience the development and establishment of biological profiles first hand in the lab and in the greenhouses.

15th Deloitte Global Chemicals Think Tank | June 20-22, 2017 | Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA

The 15th Think Tank event covered topics related to “Chemistry revolutionizing the industrial world”, with modules covering leadership, behavioral management, advanced manufacturing, market insights, and material science. Site visits and live demonstrations allowed participants to experience concepts in action, with tours of Northwestern University facilities: Ford Motor Design Center, Silverman Hall Chemistry Processes Institute, and the Garage Hub.

14th Deloitte Global Chemicals Think Tank | November 30-December 1, 2016 | Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Sittard-Geleen, Netherlands

At the 14th Think Tank event, discussions focused on future scenarios built around sustainability and digital emerging technologies. Regarding sustainability, who will drive value: stakeholders or shareholders? Regarding digital emerging technologies, will innovation in the chemical industry be incremental or disruptive? Brightlands Chemelot, home to a fast-growing community of groundbreaking companies and knowledge institutes, provided the perfect venue for the event and discussions about future scenarios for the chemicals industry.

13th Deloitte Global Chemicals Think Tank | June 28-29, 2016 | Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA

Participants at the 13th think tank event explored the “Future of business systems 2025”, including discussions around a futurist outlook, digital disruption, commercial excellence, and the talent agenda. Attendees participated in interactive discussions with experts on a number of topics, including Industry 4.0, exponential technologies in manufacturing, advanced materials and manufacturing, and sustainable business systems.
