Kazakhstan-Chinese Investment Forum

More than 60 top managers from a variety of Chinese companies, representatives from companies operating in the mining, construction, chemical and other industries attended the forum together with ministry representatives and delegations from КAZNEXINVEST, national companies such as Baiterek, Kazakhtelecom, Samruk-Energy, Astana-EXPO 2017 and others.

Ian Colebourne, Deloitte CIS Manager Partner made a speech providing an overview of the investment climate in Kazakhstan:

"The recent transition to a free-float tenge exchange rate has stimulated domestic competition. Kazakhstan’s entry to the Eurasian Economic Union will provide potential investors access to even larger markets and strengthen its leading position in the region as a country with a strong economy participating in a number of promising banking projects, including the Asian Bank initiative for infrastructure investment and organisations such as the Shanghai Coordination Organisation. I believe that Kazakhstan has achieved some significant successes on its way to creating a favourable investment climate. Last year, Deloitte celebrated the 20^th anniversary of its practice in Kazakhstan. In those 20 years we have developed our business making good use of the many growth tools offered by the country, including by providing professional services to leading Kazakhstan companies."

Special guest, Si Tao Xu, a leading Deloitte China 德勤中国 economist spoke about the Chinese economy and the potential for Chinese companies to invest in foreign markets.

He explained to the Kazakhstan media how Deloitte could aid the development of Kazakhstan-China relations, “We are currently see market interest in Kazakhstan not only from Western investors, who traditionally have a significant role in the economy of many countries, but also from Asian investors. This trend is linked to the development of the Chinese initiative “The economic belt of the Great silk road”. We have already helped a number of Chinese companies enter Kazakhstan.
