CFO Forum 2019
8 May 2019
Change is coming to the tax landscape in Malaysia. In addition to the G20 and OECD’s efforts and the increased sharing of information between tax authorities in different countries, there is now also pressure for governments to collect additional tax revenues. Today CFOs, as the “chief steward” of their organisation, need to understand the tax implications on their businesses, and ensure that tax returns lodged are accurate and compliant.
Deloitte Malaysia conducted a CFO Forum on 8 May 2019 at Hilton Kuala Lumpur to discuss the issues surrounding the changing tax landscape. Held under the Deloitte CFO Program, a total of 21 participants attended the forum, where they heard from Sim Kwang Gek (Country Tax Leader, Deloitte Malaysia), Tan Hooi Beng (International Tax Leader, Deloitte Malaysia) and K. Sandra Segaran (General Manager, Group Tax, PETRONAS) on what CFOs need to know about the Malaysian tax landscape, including the key issues that will impact a CFO’s strategic role.
