Session 11: Basel IV, the Next Wave of Regulatory Change

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (“BCBS”) officially unveiled the new recommendations for setting the capital requirements for the banking sector – commonly dubbed “Basel IV” – in December 2017.
Basel IV introduced reforms to the standardised IRB approach for credit risk, quantification of CVA risk, operational risk framework, leverage ratio framework and output floor.
The impact of Basel IV will be significant throughout the banking industry. This session will explore the wave of changes brought forth, as well as how banks can rethink their portfolio of businesses to remain competitive.

Tony Wood

Tony is the Deloitte Asia Pacific and China Firm Leader for Risk Advisory in Financial Services, having over 20 years of experience in banking, financial services and consulting.
He has worked on numerous Basel II, II.5 and III implementations, IFRS 9 design and implementation, stress-testing exercises, framework development and a broad range of regulatory topics with delivery teams in China, Japan, Australia and South East Asia. He also helps manage a number of Deloitte’s senior regulatory relationships in the region.
Justin Ong
Risk Advisory Partner,
Deloitte Malaysia
Justin has over 10 years of experience specialising in financial risk and compliance related areas within the banking and asset management industry. Over the past years, he has led numerous Basel and financial risk related projects in more than 30 leading financial institutions across Asia, Australia, Africa and Europe.
His prior experience in Basel and ICAAP covers implementation and review, including assessing Bank’s capabilities against Basel requirements.
He has also delivered Basel IV trainings to multiple Financial Institutions.
Antoine Dufresne
Associate Director,
Moody's Analytics
Antoine Dufresne brings extensive years of experience in regulatory technology including Basel and IFRS9 software solution. He has worked on several banking and financial software projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Thailand.
Antoine holds a Master’s degree in IT from the Higher National School of Engineers and Research Center of Caen, France.
