Overview
- Deloitte Tax Challenge is open to all local/international college and university students, as well as those pursuing professional qualifications in Malaysia.
- The challenge is divided into two categories – Team and Individual. Challengers may take part in both categories simultaneously.
- For the Team category, each team must consist of 4 members. Team members can be from different faculties but must be from the same university/college.
- Registration closes on 19 September 2021. Please find the Competition Schedule below for your reference.

Pre-challenge – 20 September 2021
- The Pre-challenge will begin on Monday, 20 September 2021 (one day before the Assessment Stage) from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. for both Individual and Team categories.
- The link to access the Pre-challenge questions will be provided via email to allow successful registrants to access the questions.
- The Pre-challenge contains 20 online multiple-choice questions (a mixture of 16 tax questions and 4 non-tax questions).
- For the Team category, please assign only ONE (1) team representative (team leader) to complete the Pre-challenge. Kindly complete the assessment using only one (1) compatible device. A desktop or laptop computer is recommended for the best performance.
- Challengers are given 30 minutes to complete the assessment from first login. Each Challenger is only given ONE (1) attempt to complete the assessment.
- The Pre-challenge is meant for simulation purposes and no marks will be awarded. Challengers are advised to provide feedback on the new online test platform after the trial test by reaching out to us at mydtc@deloitte.com
Assessment stage – 21 September 2021
- The online test will begin on Tuesday, 21 September 2021 from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. for both Individual and Team categories.
- Challengers from both Individual and Team categories will be tested on 40 online multiple-choice questions (a mixture of 34 tax questions and 6 non-tax questions).
- The link to access the assessment will be released to the Challengers via email on 21 September 2021.
- For Team category, please assign only ONE (1) team representative (team leader) to complete the challenge. Kindly complete the assessment using only one (1) compatible device. A desktop or laptop computer is recommended for the best performance.
- Challengers are advised to complete the assessment as soon as possible.
- Challengers are given 60 minutes to complete the online test from first login. Each Challenger is only given ONE (1) attempt to complete the assessment.
- Results will be announced on our Facebook page and website.
- NOTE: Challengers must attempt all the questions (DO NOT SKIP ANY) in order to be entitled for the e-certificate and qualification for the Semi-finals. Please attempt the assessment under a stable internet connection.
Semi-finals – 20-21 October 2021
- The live presentation challenge will be held via Zoom on 20 October 2021 (Individual category) and 21 October 2021 (Team category).
- The questions will be released to the respective semi-finalists on the respective day. The semi-finalists from both categories will be given 60 minutes to prepare for the live presentation.
- The live presentation must not exceed 10 minutes for Individual category or 15 minutes for Team category.
- No visual aid (PowerPoint slides) is required.
- All semi-finalists are to ensure to enter the Semi-finals stage under a stable internet connection.
- Normal examination rules apply. All semi-finalists are not allowed to discuss or share materials with other participants/third parties.
- Results will be announced on our Facebook page and website.
Grand Finals – 19 November 2021
- An online presentation skills workshop will be provided to the finalists on 17 November 2021 to prep them for the Grand Finals.
- The Grand Finals will be held on 19 November 2021 via Zoom.
- The finalists will be given a real life scenario business challenge to work on, upon reaching the Grand Finals.
- Finalists will be given 120 minutes to prepare for the written assessment (report) and oral presentation (PowerPoint presentation). Finalists are required to present their solutions to a panel of judges within the 15 minutes (Individual Category) or within the 20 minutes (Team Category) time limit.
- The written assessment will carry a weightage of 40% while the oral presentation will carry a weightage of 60% in the final score.
- All finalists are to ensure to enter the Grand Finals stage under a stable internet connection.
- Normal examination rules apply. All finalists are not allowed to discuss or share materials with other participants/third parties.
- Results will be announced on our Facebook page and website.
