Wong Kar Choon

Kar Choon is currently the Disruptive Events Advisory Leader of Deloitte SEA-Malaysia. He is also an Audit Partner with more than 23 years of experience in Public Accounting in Malaysia and the United States, providing assurance and advisory services to clients in the financial services industry, including banking and capital market sectors.

Kar Choon has led audits for public listed companies and local subsidiaries of large multinational corporations. He is also involved as accounting advisor in Initial Public Offerings (IPO) and Reporting Accountants for Issuance of Debts/Sukuk. Over the years, he has worked on multiple Debts/Sukuk Issuance related engagements.

He has significant experience in the review of entities’ internal control pursuant to Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements, risk management controls and practices. He is also experienced in leading advisory projects covering regulatory risk assessment, compliance review and implementation of MFRS 139 and MFRS 9. Kar Choon also has deep knowledge in regulatory reporting, leading projects that cover understanding and assessing the accuracy of source data, regulatory returns preparatory process, and assessing the effectiveness of controls around regulatory reporting.

Kar Choon is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). He is also a member of the Capital Market Advisory Committee of the MIA.
