EBA Guidelines on the Use of Remote Customer Onboarding Solutions

On the 22nd of November, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published its final guidelines on the use of remote customer onboarding solutions. The guidelines set out the steps which credit and financial institutions should take to ensure safe and effective remote customer onboarding practices in line with applicable AML/CFT legislation and the EU’s data protection framework.
The guidelines apply to all credit and financial institutions that are within the scope of Directive (EU) 2015/849 (4th Anti-Money Laundering Directive, 4AMLD).

The Guidelines will enter into force 6 months after their publication in all EU official languages.
