Important information to employers regarding FORA collective life insurance

Immigration Alert

Published: 2024-11-25

Deloitte wants to give important information to our clients in relation to insurances provided by FORA relevant to work permit applications. FORA has decided that as of 31 December 2024, it will cease to provide collective life insurance for White-Collar workers (Swedish: tjänstemän). As part of this process, it has not been possible to sign the collective life insurance for white-collar workers since 1 January 2024.

As such, all employers that have employees with work permits in Sweden, and that provide life insurance through FORA, must review the change of insurance provider as soon as possible and no later than by the stated deadline, 31 December 2024. In addition, and effective immediately, FORA should not be indicated as the provider of life insurance for any application for a work and residence permit comprised by the changes and that has a start/extension date after 1 January 2025 or any application with the start/extension date before that without separate information about changed provider, as this will prompt a request for more information from the Migration Agency.
