Men’s badminton team advances to semi-finals

Singapore shuttlers sailed to a comfortable win over Laos PDR in their quarterfinal match yesterday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Derek Wong, Clients & Markets Research Analyst, led the first match against Laos’ Outhaithani Phanthalang with a score of 21-4 in the first set. Despite best efforts from the Laotian, Derek went on to win the second set 21-10. The team went on to win the second and third matches which consisted of a doubles game followed by another singles.

Women’s basketball team still in the running for a medal

It was a tightly contested match between Singapore and Indonesia yesterday evening at the OCBC Arena. Indonesia led the first quarter of the match 23-10 but Singapore came back stronger in the second quarter to outscore Indonesia 15-11. The third quarter saw a difference of only 1 point between the two teams and Singapore dominated the fourth quarter 20-13. However, Indonesia eventually caught up to win 67-70 in this nail-biting game.

Women’s Compound Team advances into knockout rounds

Christina put up a good performance yesterday in the Women’s Individual Compound event, scoring 631 points and coming in at 26th place. She was also part of the Compound team and they have advanced into the knockout rounds.

Team Singapore Compound archers will be meeting Indonesia in the quarterfinal tomorrow at 2.30pm at the Kallang Cricket Field, and Christina will be looking to better her performance to help her team gain a spot in the medal contention rounds on 14 June.
