Deloitte Southeast Asia announces new Chief Executive Officer who will lead its new growth chapter in the region
Eugene Ho will succeed Philip Yuen as Deloitte Southeast Asia Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 June 2023
SINGAPORE, 16 March 2023 – Deloitte Southeast Asia today announced that Eugene Ho, currently Deloitte Southeast Asia Regional Managing Director for Consulting and Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, will succeed Philip Yuen as Deloitte Southeast Asia’s next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Eugene will assume the new role on 1 June 2023, at the start of Deloitte’s fiscal year 2024. At present, Deloitte Southeast Asia comprises over 13,000 professionals, including more than 500 partners, across its offices in the 10 ASEAN countries.
Eugene’s leadership appointment is part of a rigorous and comprehensive succession and nomination process, which was overseen by the Deloitte Southeast Asia Board.
“I am honored to have been selected by my partners as Deloitte Southeast Asia’s next CEO. It is a privilege to serve an organisation that is anchored in its purpose to make an impact that matters for its clients, people and communities. We put our people first; we place our clients at the centre and serve them with distinction; and we support our local communities. Ultimately, we want to collectively work together to be strong and resilient, and thrive in today’s changing world,” said Eugene.
“Under Philip’s leadership, Deloitte Southeast Asia has successfully grown in size and scale; and this has put us in prime position to be the undisputed leader in professional services in the region. I am excited to lead the firm into its next chapter, making significant investments to grow and develop our talent, strengthen our seamless, end-to-end service to our clients, and raise the bar for the profession.”
Philip is the current CEO of Deloitte Southeast Asia and Chairman of Deloitte Singapore. He started his career with Deloitte in the UK and has been with Deloitte for over 38 years. On 31 May 2023, Philip would have completed two terms as Deloitte Southeast Asia CEO, from 2016 to 2023.
2016 – the year Philip became Deloitte Southeast Asia CEO – was the first fiscal year the firm surpassed US$500 million in revenue. With two months to the end of this fiscal year 2023, Deloitte Southeast Asia is on track to surpass its revenue milestone of US$1 billion. In 2018, Philip led the Southeast Asia firm into the formation of Deloitte Asia Pacific, a move that has allowed for greater investment and focus on Deloitte clients in the wider Asia Pacific region.
“Eugene’s experience as Deloitte Southeast Asia Regional Managing Director for Consulting – a fast growing business for Deloitte across the region – and as Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, combined with his over 28 years as a management consultant, makes him the right leader for Deloitte Southeast Asia in this next growth phase where demand for our advisory business is strengthening. I am confident Eugene will lead the firm to even greater success,” said Philip.
“It has been an honour and privilege to serve as Deloitte Southeast Asia CEO for the past seven years. I have been very blessed to work together with many highly talented people, and I am grateful to all our clients and friends for their support and trust in Deloitte.”
Eugene has over 28 years of management consulting experience, including the last 18 years as a Deloitte Partner. His key focus areas include large scale business transformation programmes across various sectors in Asia Pacific, in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, China, Japan, India and Australia. He is currently the Deloitte Southeast Asia Regional Managing Director for Consulting and Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer. Other positions he has held in Deloitte include the role of Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia Consumer Industry Leader as well as the Asia Pacific Consulting Chief Strategy Officer. Eugene is a board member of the Sentosa Development Corporation, a role he has held since 2017.
