The sky is not the limit; your thoughts are!

Pooja Thakur is a specialist master in the Salesforce team in Customer & Marketing. Working on Salesforce is her passion, and she continues to live it each day. Her journey in Deloitte is best summarized by the quote, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive, and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” Pooja is a green thumb, a mountain lover, and loves to explore new places, cultures, and food.

What were some of the factors that led you to pursue your career at Deloitte?

As a child who grew up in a small town, I used to envy my cousins and relatives living in big cities to pursue their careers. I wanted to do the same, so I strived to be my academic best—in my understanding then, this is how I could chase my dream. Finally, once I graduated from university, I began my search for a role, where I could be who I am and at the same time, have the opportunity to grow professionally. My search ended with a role at Deloitte, and somehow, I knew I was in the right place as soon as my journey began. The variety of client services and depth of knowledge among professionals and leaders have helped carve out the impact on my career at Deloitte. In addition to challenging and meaningful work, I also get opportunities to give back to our community through various internal initiatives.

Tell us about your career path at Deloitte (How long have you worked for Deloitte, how has your career evolved?)

I joined Deloitte in November 2016 as a consultant and have never looked back since then. Through the years, I was fortunate to get exciting opportunities shaping my career as a Salesforce specialist. Having explored various opportunities that Salesforce offers, I keep thriving on challenges and constantly set goals for myself, which have helped me move to the next level as a specialist master in a short span of time. The learning and exposure through my Deloitte career have been tremendous, and currently, I have started my journey to become an architect in Salesforce.

How would you describe Deloitte's distinctive culture?

Deloitte provides a unique work culture, where there is an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion. You’ll never feel left out nor find it difficult to interact with anyone here. The leaders here are approachable, and it gives a sense of belonging and security, which is very important for an individual to thrive. Deloitte tries its best to take care of the employees’ well-being—this was evident during the pandemic.

What is one of the most memorable moments in your career at Deloitte so far?

The most memorable moment for me is when I was promoted to a specialist master! I am quite proud to be a Salesforce specialist master in Consulting at US-India (USI) offices. A combination of hard work, my passion for coding, and my team’s and mentors’ trust in me have enabled me to achieve what I aspired to be!

How do you describe what you do at Deloitte to friends and family?

My friends are often amused by the passion I display while explaining the work I do. I love to share excerpts of my work responsibilities and experience with my friends—spanning from my journey through career milestones, to how I help convert end-user experiences to reality via IT solutions.

What has been the most interesting or surprising element about working at Deloitte?

The most surprising part is how Deloitte brings in synergies across different teams and stakeholders. Here we are success partners. The organization supports its professionals by enabling a multitude of resources and pathways to grow professionally. At the same time, Deloitte also ensures ample opportunity to prioritize professionals’ well-being—we are encouraged to take leaves, while having the opportunity to truly disconnect during holidays and festivals, besides having access to a well-being subsidy. Moreover, I have seen professionals from different academic backgrounds and walks of life here, but there is a continued focus on building awareness of inclusive growth opportunities.
