Colin Jeffrey appointed leader of Deloitte Digital, as creative consultancy celebrates a decade in the UK

08 June 2022

  • Deloitte Digital headcount expected to double by 2025, to 2,400 people.

Colin Jeffrey has been announced as the new lead partner of Deloitte Digital in the UK, overseeing 1,200 experts in technology, creative design, research, data and strategy.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this month, Deloitte Digital, which is part of Deloitte’s wider consulting business, has grown tenfold in the UK over the past decade. With teams now based in studios across London, Bristol, Belfast, Manchester and Edinburgh, the Deloitte Digital headcount is expected to double in the next three years.

A founding member of Deloitte Digital in 2012, Jeffrey has been with the firm for more than 12 years and has most recently held the role of lead partner for consumer in Deloitte’s consulting practice, overseeing the retail, consumer products, automotive and travel, hospitality and services sectors. Throughout his career, Colin has specialised in the design and build of digital commerce platforms.

Jeffrey said: “We started Deloitte Digital in 2012 with 120 people, building digital platforms and tools at a time when consumers were more likely to access the internet from their browser rather than their smartphone. Today, we have grown to a team of 1,200 people, with a spectrum of expertise that mirrors the diversity of the UK’s digital sector, with dedicated teams for instance now focusing on the metaverse, inclusive design, digital advertising and data science. Over the next three years, as investment in digital continues to grow, we plan to double the headcount of Deloitte Digital to 2,400, introducing new roles across the country to enhance our clients’ abilities to create amazing, memorable experiences for businesses, consumers and communities across the UK.”

Over the past ten years, Deloitte Digital has continued to expand its creative services in the UK, notably by welcoming award-winning creative agency ACNE in 2017. ACNE London has since announced a number of senior appointments and produced a slew of stand-out creative work for clients. The agency’s headcount in the UK has doubled in the 18 months to March 2022.

Jeffrey takes over as leader of the UK Deloitte Digital practice from Sam Roddick, following his appointment to global head of Deloitte Digital. Globally, Deloitte Digital employs more than 25,000 experts across 60 countries.

Roddick added: “Launching Deloitte Digital allowed us to usher our clients into a new age of digital transformation and we continue to introduce businesses to technologies and platforms which are the genesis for new products, customer interactions and, ultimately, business growth. Our own growth has been built on a belief that we provide our clients with a unique service, drawing together experts from across industries, technologies and creative backgrounds, to provide every project with a diverse team of experienced and exceptional experts to guide its delivery. Colin’s impact has continued to ensure that Deloitte Digital thrives, attracting extraordinary people into our teams and amazing clients through our doors. I’m looking forward to seeing his impact over the next decade in Deloitte Digital’s evolution, and beyond.”

Anne-Marie Malley, managing partner for consulting at Deloitte, concluded: “Deloitte Digital has been a real success story over the last decade. Our clients continue to benefit from consultants that combine business, creative and technology skills to help digitise their products and services. Under Colin’s leadership, the team will continue to grow and provide organisations with a huge array of digital capabilities in strategy, innovation, design, technology, operations, and data insights to help them achieve their transformation goals.”
