Qatar's Ministry of Interior implements updated family entry regulations

11 December 2023 - Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) has revised certain regulations and procedures to ease the entry process for the families of Qatar residence permit holders who wish to reside or visit the country. 

Conditions for family residency:

• Government and semi-government sector: Employees must have family housing allocated by their Qatari employer or retain a QAR 10,000 minimum monthly salary, verified by an employment contract. 
• Private sector: Employees’ profession should fall under technical or specialized fields (non-labor), with a minimum salary of QAR 10,000 or QAR 6,000 along with family housing confirmed in the employment contract.
• General conditions: Children should not be more than 25 years of age, and daughters must have an unmarried status. Dependents should be signed up for health insurance covering the entire duration of their stay, effective from their date of entry into the country. 

Conditions for family visits:

The sponsoring resident must work in non-labor sectors, with a minimum salary of QAR 5,000. 

• Hold family housing accredited by the relevant authorities. 
• Relatives visiting should fall under the permissible degrees of relation to the sponsoring resident.
• There is no specific age restriction on the visitor.
• Mandatory health insurance covering the visitor's period of stay in Qatar is required.

All applications are to be submitted electronically to the General Directorate of Passports through the Metrash2 app and the MoI's official website.

The decision taken by the MoI to revise these specific regulations and procedures is intended to ease and streamline the process for families of residents intending to visit or reside in the country.  The revision also aims to elevate the quality of services provided by the MoI. 

The authorities have advised that these updated procedures and regulations are now in effect.  We will continue to monitor for further updates on this matter.
