Update on the tax payment process on the Dhareeba portal

The General Tax Authority (GTA) has made some changes to the payment options available on the Dhareeba portal. There are three methods that are available on the Dhareeba portal for tax payments namely: “bank transfer”, “debit/credit card” and “direct payment”.

Effective immediately, taxpayers who have bank accounts with the following banks will no longer be able to use the “bank transfer” method for payments:

  1. Qatar National Bank (QNB)
  2. Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ)
  3. Al Ahli Bank
  4. Arab Bank
  5. Dukhan Bank
  6. HSBC
  7. Masraf Al-Rayan
  8. Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB)
  9. Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB)
  10. Standard Chartered (SCB)

Taxpayers that maintain bank accounts with the banks listed above can only make tax payments through a debit/credit card or direct payment.

While taxpayers who do not have an account with any of the banks listed above can continue using any of the three payment methods: bank transfer, a debit/credit card or direct payment.

Implications of the Dhareeba Portal payment process update:

Taxpayers using any of the banks listed above for tax payments should notify the banks with their Tax Identification Number (TIN) in order to enable the direct payment method.

Taxpayers using other banks that are not listed above are required to provide their International Bank Account Number (IBAN) before proceeding with the bank transfer method. This is a new additional step that has been added to ensure that payments are processed accurately and efficiently.

This initiative was developed by the GTA in line with the authority’s efforts in making payment methods easier, more secure and protected.
