State of the South African Consumer Tracker

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a staggering impact on the world’s population and economy. This has led to consumers grappling with challenges related to two intertwined factors—personal health and financial well-being. As the economies of the world navigate COVID-19, the relationship between personal safety and economic vulnerability will define consumer behaviour and purchasing decisions.

The Africa Consumer Industry Leader, Rodger George, hosted over 100 clients from all sectors of the Consumer Industry virtually on the 1st December 2021. Rodger analysed four emerging themes extracted from the Consumer Tracker data that were influencing consumer mindset and its potential implications. Rodger also shared his predictions around consumer spend during the December festive period which the Deloitte team will survey in our next webinar schedule for March 2022.

Rodger was joined by Jake Neethling, AB-InBev’s Head of Digital Products and CX for Africa and Anoka Balram, the Chief Marketing Officer for Deloitte Consulting Africa, discussing how these trends have directly impacted Jake’s industry and AB-InBev’s agility to rapidly adapt to meet consumer demands. Please download the highlights deck and watch the recoding of the session located at the bottom of the page.
