Interview Tips

At Deloitte, an interview means getting to know the real you and teasing out your true potential. Now you have completed stage one, the interview stage is designed so you can get to know us, as much as we’re getting to know you.

Preparing for your interview

It’s important to us that you enjoy your interview experience and learn more about the role, our organisation, and our values and culture. The interview stage is designed so you can get to know us, as much as we’re getting to know you. Accepting a new job is an important decision, so it needs to be right for you.

At Deloitte, our interviews are competency-based. Typically, you will meet two interviewers during your interview. This is your opportunity to ask questions, learn more about what we do and about our culture, and showcase what you have to offer too.

Secondly, you will meet a Director or Partner from the business area you have applied to for your final assessment. This interview will further discuss your experience and skills, alongside exploring your potential career and pathways in Deloitte.

It’s likely you’ll be asked a range of questions during your interview that will cover your technical ability and the environment you are likely to thrive within. These might include typical examples of previous work situations you’ve found yourself in, some questions based on your strengths, as well as scenario-based questions on possible work situations you may encounter. You could also be asked technical questions to help us better understand your knowledge.

Here are some top tips to help you succeed:

Do your homework

Make sure you do your research on the firm you want to join. What markets they are in? What are the types of services they offer? Who are their main competitors? Collect enough information so you’re able to talk about the firm or the company for a few minutes.

Know your CV

Come prepared to talk about projects you’ve been involved in: any activities that took time and effort to achieve. This could be work you’re particularly proud of, or something you found challenging. You’ll need to be clear what your role was and provide detail. We’re looking for how you plan, problem solve, and interact with people, amongst other things.

Familiarise yourself with the job description too - plan how to bring the most relevant aspects of your experience, skills and qualifications to life.

Be confident

Composure in the business world is crucial. And an interview is a good measurement of how you handle pressure. Maintain an appropriate level of professionalism without being unapproachable. The best advice is to be yourself and let that come through in your interview. We're looking for individuals who will thrive in our team-based environment.

Ask questions

Your time with us is of course two-way. We’re sure you’ll have some questions too; this might be about the role, the culture, development or future career opportunities, so come prepared to ask these. When you want to learn more about who we are and what we do, it lets us know you're interested. Depending on what you ask, it may also prove you've done your homework. Before the interview, make a list of questions that we may not have addressed.

Get clarification

If you don't understand a question, don't hesitate, ask us to repeat it. You have a better shot at giving your best answer if you know exactly what we're asking.

Showcase your skills

Make sure you can speak confidently about any experiences you've had in the workplace or at university. Specific examples of how you've contributed to an organization or learned something exciting are of interest to us. We see potential in you, so be sure to sell yourself by promoting your skills and abilities.

Make an impact

We’ll also focus on your values; what matters to you and how that fits in with us as a business. Think about what impact you think you’d make at Deloitte. For example, it might be that you’re passionate about working collaboratively or have strong leadership qualities. Have some examples up your sleeve to support your claims.

What's next?

Your offer

If we like you at interview – and you like us – we’ll offer you a job.

Welcome to Deloitte. Either way, we won’t keep you guessing; we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
