Piet Vandendriessche, CEO Deloitte Belgium

Welcome to our Impact Report, a collection of stories that bring to life our work for our clients, our people and our society in 2021! I hope you enjoy reading them as much as our more than 5,100 Deloitters enjoyed living them.

Connections are integral to our organisation’s success. We place high value on our relationships with clients, our collaborations with colleagues, and our interactions with our community.

Practically overnight, working remotely replaced those in-person meetings. All our activities, events and celebrations quickly transitioned to the virtual world. The pandemic made those contacts, those connections, even more critical as we all faced new and unique challenges.

Through perseverance, resilience and a lot of creativity, our teams rapidly adapted to the changing circumstances and found ingenious ways to keep the communications flowing.

By putting people first and acting with Purpose, we kept making an impact that matters for our clients, our people, and our society, despite the physical distance between us.

Maintaining connections

Over the last year and a half, a lot of our lives have been lived online. It’s safe to say many of us have now mastered Skype, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. So we leveraged those virtual platforms to continue empowering our people no matter where they’re working.

Monthly town hall webinars ensure we’re all on the same page about the health of the company, while our Energise@Deloitte programme keeps us physically-fit with a variety of e-classes. Our wellbeing charter nurtures mental resilience, and our Good Vibes campaign encourages our people to reconnect with their colleagues.

These initiatives are just a few ways the Deloitte spirit transcended our 11 Belgian office buildings to every corner of the country.

Taking action

Many of us have been touched personally by this pandemic, and we wanted to show solidarity with our society and support those in need throughout our community.

With our Proud of Our Purpose campaign, we proved December is the warmest month of them all through philanthropic actions like a digital shoebox donation drive and a Saint Nicholas gift to two area schools.

Of course, our organisation also remains committed to doing our part when it comes to protecting the planet. You can read all about how we are pioneering a path towards a greener future in our 2021 Sustainability Report.

Making an impact

Recently, we have transitioned back to our offices, a phase we call our Next Normal. While homeworking is still standard practice, our corridors are beginning to fill with conversation.

Colleagues are catching up in our coffee corners. Life has returned to our buildings and with it, a renewed energy to keep leading with Purpose.

I look forward to all the new stories we will create together.
