Deloitte expands Audit & Assurance practice with new senior partner Alessandro Miolo
Zurich, 12 February 2018
Professional services firm Deloitte Switzerland has appointed a new senior Audit & Assurance partner: Alessandro Miolo joined the firm on 1 February 2018. Deloitte’s dynamic Audit & Assurance practice is well-positioned in the market as last year’s major audit mandate wins of Panalpina and LafargeHolcim clearly indicate. Playing a key role in the Audit & Assurance team, Alessandro will help further build Deloitte’s CFO and Board networks, widen its scope of assurance services and develop the audit of the future. Deloitte continues to deploy cutting-edge technologies to deliver a more meaningful audit.
A Swiss Certified Public Accountant, Alessandro Miolo has joined Deloitte from another large professional services company in Switzerland, where he was partner in charge of the corporates audit group and member of the Swiss executive team. Over the last two decades, he has held various leadership positions, from lead audit partner on numerous major audit mandates to developing new accounting advisory services. Alessandro Miolo is the fifth audit partner to join Deloitte within a year. In addition to three talented professionals from Deloitte’s global network, Fabien Lussu joined from another Swiss professional services firm to further develop the audit market in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.
Strengthening the presence in corporate Switzerland
“Alessandro Miolo is a great addition to our Audit & Assurance team. After the recent major successes we have had, he will help to further enhance Deloitte’s position in the Swiss market. We are also delighted to have Alessandro strengthening Deloitte’s programmes that aim to deepen our relations with CFOs and Board members. Along with traditional financial audit, we also advise our clients on numerous accounting and assurance topics. By delivering assurance on compliance with regulations and stakeholder demands, we help organisations lead with confidence, navigate risks and opportunities and become disrupters in their industry”, said Thierry Aubertin, Managing Partner Audit & Assurance at Deloitte Switzerland.
By the end of 2017, close to 400 professionals were working in Deloitte Switzerland’s Audit & Assurance practice. The role of these practitioners is evolving drastically with automation and new technologies, enabling them to bring more meaningful analysis and a forward-thinking approach to their clients.
“I am very happy to join such a fast-growing and dynamic company as Deloitte at a time when the audit business is seeing revolutionary developments driven by digital transformation. Our profession has an opportunity to reinvent itself, to shift from being compliance-focused to creating high-value services and trust. We call it the ‘audit of the future’. I am excited to contribute to the success of Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance practice and enhance the firm’s network in the Swiss corporate world,” said Alessandro Miolo.
Making an impact on the Swiss economy
“I am delighted to welcome Alessandro Miolo, as well the four other partners and many other Audit and Assurance professionals that have joined Deloitte in the last 12 months, to our team. Our growth underlines Deloitte’s ambition to play an even more prominent role in the Swiss audit landscape and contribute to a trustful and thriving economy in Switzerland. We are recruiting the most talented people and equipping them with the best tools, and continually experimenting with new, disruptive approaches to revolutionise the audit and its impact. With the help of analytics and artificial intelligence tools, our audit practitioners are automating the more routine tasks and transforming the traditional audit to offer smarter reports and solutions to our clients,” added Simon Owen, CEO of Deloitte Switzerland.
