Life at Deloitte

Financial Advisory

Circle Wong, Manager

Can you tell us about your background and what area of Deloitte you work in?

I graduated from City University of Hong Kong, with a major in Marketing and a minor in e-Business. After that, I took a Master's degree at the University of Hong Kong, studying laws on compliance and regulation. I work in the Forensic team of Financial Advisory, and have experience in providing advisory services on anti-money laundering/counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), resolving complex matters related to financial crime compliance for different financial institutions.

My work is fun but challenging as you are required to work out every detail of each individual process, and every time when you have a new client, it will give you a fresh experience.

Describe your team in one sentence

Providing forward-looking financial advisory services to clients from different industries.

Name two exciting experiences in your digital journey

The most exciting experience is working on data-centric projects. We leverage our own analytical tools to explain a customer's analysis of risks and provide solutions.

We also collaborate with other functions. In one project we developed an internal platform with them, using AI to automate repetitive tasks and increase efficiency.

What kind of clients do you work with?

I have met many different types of clients, most of them are financial institutions, including private banks, commercial banks, virtual banks, and insurance companies.

What are your top three tips for new graduates?

  • Be a fast learner: have strong learning ability and be able to quickly master new skills.
  • Be agile: have the ability to move quickly and easily.
  • Think outside of the box: This is something people often mention. It means exiting inherent ways of thinking to think innovatively.
