Support measures for the economy

On the 27th of May, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, announced a new support package, following approval by the Council of Ministers, which aims to address the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on our country’s economy. On the following day, the Minister of Finance elaborated on the measures that aim to support SMEs, homebuyers, tourist enterprises and in general to enhance liquidity in the local market, utilising European Union tools. 

On the 5th of June 2020, an increase in the fiscal budget has been approved from the House of Representatives. It is noted that these measures will not need further approval by the House of Representatives.
