Deloitte named a leader in Canadian Security Services by IDC MarketScape

Press release

NEW YORK, NY, USA, 23 March 2017 — Deloitte announced today that International Data Corporation (IDC) has named it as a leader in Canadian Security Services in their report entitled, IDC MarketScape: Canadian Security Services 2017 Vendor Assessment (doc #CA41971017, February 2017). The IDC MarketScape recognizes Deloitte as a leader based on capabilities and strategies.

“Deloitte is proud to be named a leader in the space,” said Nick Galletto, Cyber Risk Services leader for Deloitte Global, Americas Region, and Deloitte Canada. “As cyber threats grow exponentially and businesses of all sizes struggle to keep up, this IDC MarketScape report demonstrates that Deloitte is well positioned to provide clients with a comprehensive set of advisory and managed security services to solve their most complex cybersecurity challenges.”

Specifically, for Deloitte, the report notes, “Few security providers can match Deloitte's presence in IT consulting and professional security services. With the acquisition of Integrity-Paahi Solutions Inc. (IPS), Deloitte has further strengthened its managed security services business and bolstered its presence across Canada for all security services, including device management and monitoring.”

IDC MarketScape is a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the characteristics that explain a vendor's success in the marketplace and help anticipate the vendor's ascendancy. The report assesses the capability and business strategy of the leading business consulting firms.

"The Canadian security services market is evolving quickly as pure-play providers are acquired, partnerships are formed, and new players try to tap into the strong growth security services has been experiencing,” said Kevin Lonergan, senior IDC analyst, Infrastructure Solutions. “Although competition is ramping up, there are still many opportunities for greenfield growth as Canadian organizations continue to look to third parties for help securing their business."

Deloitte strives to help build more secure, vigilant and resilient organizations by becoming an extended and trusted part of their security team. “We believe that security management and operations cannot simply be outsourced; rather, a managed security service provider should work closely together with their clients to help prevent, detect, and respond to threats,” added Galletto.

Additional Findings
  • “A potential differentiator going forward for Deloitte is its partnership with American supercomputer manufacturer Cray Inc. Through this partnership, Deloitte provides a supercomputing recognizant and threat analytics service to its customers.”
  • “Deloitte is also enhancing its analytics capabilities with pattern and behavioral predictive threat analytics capabilities.”
