Deloitte Tax Challenge (DTC) 2019

Overview

  • Deloitte Tax Challenge is open to all local/international college and university students, as well as those pursuing professional qualifications.
  • The challenge is divided into two categories – Team category and Individual category. Challengers may take part in both the Team category and Individual category simultaneously.
  • For the Team category, each team must consist of 4 members. Team members can be from different faculties, but must be from the same university/college.
  • Registration closes on 15 September 2019. Please find the Competition Schedule below for your reference.

Pre-challenge – 17 September 2019

  • The pre-challenge will begin on Tuesday, 17 September 2019 (one day before the actual challenge) from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. for both individual and team categories.
  • The link to access the pre-challenge questions (along with a unique password) will be provided via email and the Facebook page to allow successful registrants to access the questions.
  • The pre-challenge contains 20 online multiple choice questions (a mixture of 16 tax questions and 4 non-tax questions).
  • For the team category, please assign only ONE (1) team representative (team leader) to complete the pre-challenge.
  • Challengers are given 30 minutes to complete the online test from first login.
  • The pre-challenge is meant for simulation purposes and no marks will be awarded. Challengers are advised to provide feedback on the new online test platform after the trial test by reaching out to us at mydtc@deloitte.com.
     

Stage 1 – 18 September 2019

  • The online test will begin on Wednesday, 18 September 2019 from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. for both individual and team categories.
  • Challengers from both individual and team categories will be tested on 40 online multiple choice questions (a mixture of 34 tax questions and 6 non-tax questions).
  • The link to access the challenge (together with a unique password) will be released to the Challengers via email and the Facebook page on 16 September 2019.
  • For team category, please assign only ONE (1) team representative (team leader) to complete the challenge.
  • Challengers are advised to complete their online test as soon as possible.
  • Challengers will be given 60 minutes to complete the online test from the first login.
  • Results will be announced at our Facebook page and website.

NOTE: Challengers must attempt all the questions (DO NOT SKIP ANY) in order to be entitled for the e-certificate and qualification for the semi-finals. Please attempt the Challenge under a stable internet connection.


Semi-finals – 28 September 2019

  • The questions will be released to the semi-finalists on Saturday, 28 September 2019 9.00 a.m. via email and our Facebook page.
  • Semi-finalists are required to present their solution to the questions via a video clip uploaded to YouTube, latest by 9.00 p.m. Visibility of the video presentation must be set to private and shared to us via Individual Form or Team Form which will be indicated in our email.
  • Late submissions will not be entertained.
  • The length of the video presentation must not exceed 5 minutes for Individual category or 15 minutes for Team category.
  • Kindly note that we will not judge your video presentation based on your video editing skills. However, please ensure that the video’s visual and audio are clear.
  • Results will be announced on our Facebook page and website.


Grand Finals and Gala Dinner – 14 November 2019

  • An 8-hour* workshop will be provided to our finalists on 13 November 2019 to prep them for the Grand Finals.
  • The Grand Finals will be held on 14 November 2019 at our Deloitte Kuala Lumpur office.
  • The finalists will be given a real life scenario business challenge to work on, upon reaching the grand finals.
  • Finalists will be given 120 minutes to prepare for the written assessment (report) and oral presentation (PowerPoint presentation). Finalists are required to present their solutions to a panel of judges within the 15 minute (Individual Category) or within the 20 minute (Team Category) time limit.
  • The written assessment will carry a weightage of 40% while the oral presentation will carry a weightage of 60% in the final score.
  • The panel of judges will determine the winner.
  • All finalists will be invited to attend the Gala Dinner.
  • Results will be announced on our Facebook page and website.
